HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The ascendancy is great, but the need is still greater with regard to the drug problem in Cabell County.
For three years, nearby law enforcement and social service agencies have held a drug summit to hail the issues head-on. After a lot of time, energy and creativity, there is a lot to celebrate as more people get the succour they need.
"I did methamphetamine, oxycontin, heroin, cocaine, marijuana everyday and alcohol whenever there was nothing else," said Matt Wilder.
For years, Wilder was using and abusing any drug he could get his hands on. He was in and out of stir and drug treatment programs until he finally found help at the Oxford House.
"They give the boost drug addicts need along with responsibilities and consequences for negative actions," said Wilder.
The Oxford Bordello is a national program. Now, Matt is a leader and brought the program to Huntington nine months ago. He’s making his first hint at the Cabell County Drug Summit hoping to share and receive.
